Gerald C. Koetter , 72, Rural Glenburn, died Monday, August 3, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family.
Gerald was born August 10, 1947 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Cornelius and Genevieve (Middendorf) Koetter. He was raised on the family farm in Renville County and educated at Glenburn. He graduated from Glenburn High School in 1966. During his younger years, he assisted with the operation of the family farm.
Gerald honorably served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army from October 12, 1967 until June 1, 1969. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Sandra "Sandy" Renier on February 13, 1971 at Glenburn. They made their home on a farm near Glenburn, where along with raising their 3 children, he grew small grains and was employed as a welder and an over the road trucker throughout much of the United States.
Gerald was a member of the Minot American Legion Post #26. He took great pride in caring for his lawn.
Gerald's loving family includes: wife of 49 years, Sandy Koetter, rural Glenburn, ND; children, Rodney (Diane) Koetter, Glenburn; Jolie (Rod) Erber, Glenburn; and Daniel Koetter, Glenburn; Seven Grandchildren to include: Tyler Erber (Heather), Samantha Koetter, Cameron Erber, Kali Koetter, Cutter Koetter, Cadyn Koetter and Waylon Koetter; siblings, James Koetter, Lansford, ND, Elizabeth "Betty" Barniville, Chandler, AZ, Carolyn Geigle, Everett, WA and Donald Koetter, Kent, WA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.
Service:
At Gerald's request there will not be a service.
Private Interment:
St Henry's Cemetery, Renville County, ND.
Visitation:
At his request, there will not be a viewing, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
