Gerald E. "Jerry" Holen, 60, rural Foxholm, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in a Bismarck Hospital.
Jerry was born February 1, 1948 at Aberdeen, Washington, the son of Glenn and Delores (Guinn) Holen. He moved with his family to the Upham, North Dakota area, where he was raised and educated. He returned to Washington State to work with the Boeing Corporation, where he was employed for several years. He then moved to McCall, Idaho, where he did logging work and drove truck for Borden Foods Company.
Jerry moved to North Dakota to begin employment with his uncle, Orrin Holen Construction of McClusky. He operated heavy equipment and eventually was named superintendent for the company. Jerry was once married to Doris Sampson.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca "Becky" Moen on January 9, 1987 at Carpio Lutheran Church. They had lived at Garrison from 1987 until 2005, when they moved to rural Foxholm. Most recently, Jerry had worked for Riley Brothers Construction of Morris, MN on the Construction on Hwy 2 near Berthold. He had also worked part time for the Berthold Meat Shop.
Jerry was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garrison. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. He loved being in the outdoors.
His loving family includes : Wife: Becky Holen, rural Foxholm, ND; Daughters: Sheila (Kent) Brown, New Rockford, ND and Tina (Daniel) Kimball, Sawyer, ND; Grandchildren: Eli, Samantha, Taylor, Piper, and Hallie; Brothers: Dennis Holen and Larry Holen, both of Seattle, WA; Sisters: Judy Stafsholt and Colleen Holen, both of Seattle, WA and Joy Holen, Upham, ND; A number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Marcia and brother, David.
Funeral service
: Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Carpio Lutheran Church.
Interment
: Des Lacs Valley Cemetery, rural Foxholm.
Visitation: Friday from 2:30-7:30pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
