Georgine Marson , 90, formerly of Minot died on April 17, 2023 in AZ under the care of hospice and after a long illness with her daughter, Ellen, and son-in-law, Jim, by her side.

Georgine was born on April 25, 1932 on the family farm near Fillmore, ND to Helmar and Ellen Halvorson.  Growing up on a farm in the 1930's, she learned the necessity of hard work.  Her little green milking stool gave the next generations a glimpse into her childhood.  In 1946, she moved into the girl's dorm at the Benson County Agriculture and Trade School in Maddock, ND.  She graduated in 1950.  The resilience Georgine learned growing up would serve her well.

While working as a waitress, along with her sister Betty, at the Oscar Diner, she met Navy Veteran Erwin Edward Marson. After marrying on June 1, 1952, they made their home in Minot where they raised three hardworking children. She was indefatigable in her belief that only through diligence would they succeed.  Besides being a wife and mother, she worked as a produce clerk at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store for twenty years.  Georgine was always very social and couldn't stand being retired, so returned to work as a lunchroom supervisor at Jim Hill Middle School.  She loved being around people, frequently opening her home to others with love and unsurpassed culinary skills.

Georgine lost her beloved husband, Bud, in 1986, but embraced her time as a widow with the determination and resolve reminiscent of the "Silent Generation".  She left her grandchildren with memories of nature and connectiveness in the shadow of her little motorhome.  In her later years, Georgine struggled with frailty and was dependent on her devoted children especially her daughters who steadfastly anticipated her every need-truly a tribute to her memory.

Georgine is survived by her children: Erwin, Ellen, and Diane and their families.

Graveside Service: September 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Section 21 of Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.  Use gate 6 on the North side of the cemetery.
