Georgia May Christianson Johnson, 81, Minot and formerly of Glenburn died on Monday, May 18, 2009 in a Minot hospital.
Georgia was born on February 22, 1928 in Glenburn, ND, to Morris and Ida (Haugen) Christianson. She was reared and educated in Glenburn and in Minot where she graduated from Minot High School in 1947. As a young adult she was employed at Ellison's Department Store.
Georgia married Clarence Johnson on February 7, 1953 in Wolseth, ND. They made their home in Minot where she continued her employment at Ellison's Department Store for a total of fourteen years. She was also employed as a sales associate at Kinney's Shoes for fourteen years and at various other businesses in Minot. Clarence died on February 16, 2004. She continued to reside in Minot until her death.
Georgia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge and American Legion Auxiliaries all in Minot. Her special interests included scrapbooking, reading, traveling and shopping. One of her favorite past times was playing solitaire with her granddaughter and watching the Twins play baseball.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Brian) Tryhus of Mankato, Minnesota; granddaughter: Kcarie (Eric) Sing of Mankato; great grandson: Johnathan of Mankato; siblings: Myrtle (Nels) Snustad, Moorhead, MN; Tilfred (Maxine) Christianson and Donald (Sally) Christianson, both of Minot; Conrad (Agnes) Christianson, Glenburn; Lester (Pearl) Christianson, Minot; sister-in-law: Virginia Christianson of Minot and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; and brothers Irvin and Ralph.
Funeral Service:
Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot at a later date because Georgia's body will be donated to the U.N.D. School of anatomy following the funeral service.
Visitation and Reviewal:
Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
