George Bernard Fix, 73, Minot and formerly of Garrison died on Monday, August 15, 2011 in a Mandan hospital.
George was born on May 17, 1938 in Garrison, ND to Louis and Katherine Rose (Pfleiger) Fix. He was reared and educated in Garrison. As a young adult he was employed by an electrical contractor and served in the Army Reserve with two of those years being on active duty. George was once married to Gayle Wills.
George became employed by Verendrye Electric Co-op in 1960, transferred to Ottertail Power Co-op in 1964 and to Edgely Electric Co-op in 1968 before moving to Montana. He returned to North Dakota in 1979 and was employed by Central Power Electric Co-op until his retirement in 1991. He had resided in Minot since his retirement.
George was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union #714 (now #1396) and he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, mechanical work and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving family includes his children: Blane (Helma) Fix of Clarksville TN, Pastor Michael (Wendy) Fix of Bismarck, Ron Fix and Terry (Annette) Fix, both of Minot; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings: Carol, Jim, Rick and Nick Fix, all of the Seattle area and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Anton and Katherine Rose, daughter Georgia Marie and brothers: Robert, Don and John Fix.
Liturgy of the Word Service:
Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.
Interment:
Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva.
Visitation:
Sunday from Noon to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
