Geneva Harriet Linington, 98, Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Minot, ND, completed her journey on earth, on Sunday October 25, 2015, at the Kahl Home in Davenport.
Geneva was born on October 8, 1917 in her hometown of Mayville, ND to Alexander and Emma (Skarnes) Parke. She graduated in 1935 from Mayville High School and as a young adult she resided in Billings, MT and Portland, OR where she was employed in the shipyards during World War II. She moved to Minot in 1950 to attend the Minot Business College and was employed by the Minot Police Department.
Geneva married Victor Linington on June 15, 1956 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she owned and operated Vikiann Specialties for many years. Victor died on August 17, 1987. She had continued to live in and love her dear Minot until she moved to Davenport, Iowa temporarily in November, 2009 to recuperate from a fall, then permanently in 2010, to be closer to her daughter.
Geneva was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and its Ruth Circle, Minot Republican Women, Wise Women, Shrine Auxiliary, and Eastern Star. She spread God\'s love by talking to and getting to know people, spending time with friends, and volunteering in many capacities. Taking Sunday drives to enjoy the beauty of nature, drinking coffee and sharing cookies with a friend, traveling, and selling North Dakota Plates and Republican Frankoma mugs, were just a few of her favorite activities. One of her greatest joys was getting her driver\'s license in her early 50\'s. She loved the ability to "go and do" at a moment's notice.
Geneva is survived by her daughter: Victoria (Jeffrey) Preston of Davenport Iowa; grandchildren: Jenna (Joseph) Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska and Leslie Preston of Marshalltown, IA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Patrick McDonnell, sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Rev. Lewis) Bakke, Phylis (Walter) Facey, and Deloris (Patrick) Morrissey.
