Gene Carey Sollid , 57, Minot and formerly of rural Velva, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 in his home.

Gene was born on February 21, 1957 in Minot to Hilton and Caroline (Biberdorf) Sollid. He was reared on the family farm near Velva, ND and at the Grafton State School.

Since 1984, Gene had resided in Minot where he was employed by the Vocational Workshop (Kalix).

Gene enjoyed music, dancing and could often be found with a fishing pole in his hand.

Gene's loving family includes his siblings: Gary (Masayo) Sollid of Fargo and Carol McMahon, of Brooklyn Park, MN; niece: Julie (Bob) Cronin of Crystal, MN and their children: Zoe, Joseph and Henry; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother in 2011 and his father died shortly after he did. He also was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Terry McMahon.

Celebration of the Life of Gene Sollid: Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Interment: Stenkjaer Lutheran Cemetery - rural Simcoe, North Dakota
Visitation: Monday, December 29, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Second Story in Minot.
