Gary B. Roed , 76, Minot, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in a Minot hospital.

Gary was born November 14, 1941 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND to Bert and Luetta (Neil) Roed.  He grew up in Devils Lake and was an athlete during his youth participating in many sports including football, basketball, track, and Legion baseball.  He graduated from high school in 1960.

Gary was united in marriage to Judy Feldner on April 7, 1961 in Devils Lake, ND.  He graduated from Lake Region Junior College in 1962.  While attending college in Devils Lake, Gary drove school bus and worked at Phillip 66.

In 1963, Gary and Judy moved to Minot so he could attend college at Minot State University where he also played football.  He landed a job at Land-O-Lakes Creamery as a retail and wholesale truck driver.  Gary held that position for the next 35 years and also worked part-time as a custodian at Vincent United Methodist Church.  He retired in 1999.

Gary was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Eagles Aerie, along with the Elks and Jaycees Clubs, all of Minot.  In addition to his interests in hunting and fishing, he coached several sports and was a Boy Scout leader.  Gary loved to build and remodel sharing the talents of his hands with various projects and on committees at Vincent United Methodist Church.  Gary enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Lake Sakakawea, but treasured mostly any moments spent with his family.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy Roed, Minot; sons, Dale (Niki) Roed and Robert (Melissa) Roed both of Minot; grandchildren, Andrew (Libbi) Roed, Kristina (Keith) Hess and Ericka Roed, and Casey (Brittany) Roed; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Niles Hess and Nicholas Huskey and Aloura Roed; sisters, Bonnie (Joe) Keller, Bakersfield, CA, Vickie (Robert) Schneider, Crary, ND and Lauri Roed, Devils Lake, ND; brothers, William (Pat) Roed, Devils Lake, ND and Terry Roed, Arlington, WA along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Luetta Roed, grandparents, Hank and Mabel Roed and William and Bertha Neil, brother, Rick Roed.

Celebration of Gary's Life:  11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Interment:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
