Garry Hauf, 79, longtime Max area farmer, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Trinity Hospital in Minot surrounded by his loving family. With his dying breath he led his family in praying the Lord's Prayer and singing Jesus Loves Me.
Garry was born on October 25, 1943 in Minot, the son of Paul and Erna (Wolter) Hauf. He was raised on a farm east of Max. After completing high school, he attended NDSU in Fargo and graduated with a degree in Ag Economics. He served with the ND National Guard from 1966 until 1972.
Garry was united in marriage to Lonie Hegney on October 23, 1966, in Max. Throughout the years, they have made their home on a farm near Max, where along with raising their four children, he raised dairy cattle and grew small grains, canola and sunflowers.
Garry's faith in Jesus Christ was priority. He was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Max where he was baptized, confirmed and married. Attending Sunday morning church services and saying grace before meals was a value he instilled in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family meant the world to Garry. In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the sunset and fishing trips with family to Lake Audubon and Lake Sakakawea.
Garry's loving family includes his wife of 56 years, Lonie; children, Jerry (Tanya) Hauf, Max, Bryan (Donita) Hauf, Max, Melissa (Shawn) Kramer, Denbigh & Bonita (Cody) Roswick, Valley City, ND; grandchildren to include, Dylan (Makensy Arlien) Hauf, Paige Hauf, Ashley (Dylan) Wolf, Amanda (Daniel) Semeryuk, Nathan Hauf, Tayton (Stephanie) Kramer, Jack (Jessica) Kramer, Parker Kramer, Ben Kramer, Erin Roswick, Megan Roswick, Justin Roswick; great grandchildren, Austyn, Monty and Bo Kramer; Amelia and Oliver Wolf and Luke Semeryuk; siblings, Delores (Keith) Soiseth, Bismarck, Alfred (Sandy) Hauf, Max, Larry (Tammy) Hauf, Max, Allen (Dianna) Hauf, Windham, NH and Mary Ann Hauf, Staunton, VA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
