Gale Dahle, 86, Minot, and former longtime Carpio area farmer, died Monday, October 8, 2018 in a Minot healthcare center.

Gale LeRoy Dahle was born on May 24, 1932, in Carpio, ND to Merrel and Julia (Helseth) Dahle. He was reared and educated in Carpio and graduated from Carpio High School in 1950. While he was in high school he was active in sports and was a proud member of the 1948 North Dakota Class C Championship basketball team.  Gale attended North Dakota State University for a short time, until returning home to assist his father on the family farm.

Gale was united in marriage to Elaine Sandberg on June 17, 1955 at the Carpio Lutheran Church. They made their home on the family farm in Mayland Township of Ward County until 1994 when they retired from farming and moved to Minot when their son Gregg took over the farm.

Gale was a lifetime member of the Carpio Lutheran Church where he served on Church Council and Cemetery Board. He enjoyed traveling, attending rodeos and ballgames, caring for and riding his horses, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and attending their activities.

Gale's loving family includes his wife of 63 years Elaine; daughters:  Linda (Mike) Miller, Fargo; Pam Schmidt, Minneapolis; Lori (John) Clark, Orlando; son: Gregg (Kyhlene) Dahle, Carpio; grandchildren:  Jase (Janel) Miller, Kaci (Evan) Wilmer, Erin and Kelsey Schmidt, Justin (Ashley) Clark, Jaime Clark, Corbin, Garrett, and Kendra Dahle;  great-granddaughters:  Paityn Miller and Reagan Wilmer; sister:  Phyllis (Bill) Johnson of Minot; brothers-in-law:  Earl (Louise) Sandberg and Dale (Judy) Sandberg and sister-in-law:  Renee (Rod) Lemke.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law, Einar and Rachel Sandberg, grandson, Eric Schmidt and sister, Joyce Moore.

Celebration of the Life of Gale Dahle:  Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carpio Lutheran Church.
Graveside Service:  Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation:  Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Carpio Lutheran Church.
