Obituary

Gail Marie Curle, 84, longtime Minot teacher and formerly of Sherwood died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.

Gail was born on December 7, 1930 in Sherwood, ND to Fred and Florence (Sorenson) Bernsdorf. She was reared and educated in Sherwood, graduated from Sherwood High School and Minot State Teachers College where she received a degree in elementary education. As a young adult she taught in Souris, Westhope and Minot.

Gail married Kenneth Curle on July 31, 1955 in the Sherwood Methodist Church. They made their home in Minot where she taught at Lincoln, North Hill and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. She retired in 1989 following 36 years as an educator. She was still being approached by former students wanting her to know that she was their favorite teacher. Ken died on February 13, 2008. She had continued to reside in Minot.

Gail was a former member of the Minot and North Dakota Education Associations and attended First Assembly of God. She especially enjoyed shopping, baking, traveling and spending time with her family and many schnauzers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and teacher. She was a gift to this world and will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Gail's loving family includes her daughter: Penni King of Minot; granddaughter: Sara King of Minot; brother: Darrell (Clarice) Bernsdorf of Minot; in-laws: Darlene Bernsdorf of Minot, Grace Bernsdorf of Seattle, WA and Gerald Curle of Carnduff, Sask. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins: Mary Ann (Stan) McAlister and Larry Stewart.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter: Kim Gail Curle, sister: Vivian (Louis) DesLauriers, brothers: Howard and Curtis Bernsdorf and sister-in-law: Dorene (Don) Spencer.

Celebration of the Life of Gail Curle: Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in First Assembly of God Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation with Reviewal: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
There will be no reviewal at the church prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warriors Program, Souris Valley Animal Shelter or First Assembly of God.
