Francis Adam "Frank" Schaan, 80, Minot and formerly of Foxholm died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in a Garrison hospital.
Francis was born on February 16, 1938 in Rugby, ND to Wendell and Magdalena (Heit) Schaan. He was raised on the family farm near Foxholm and attended rural schools in that area. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm.
Francis married Ramona Heinle on February 11, 1961 in Bellflower, CA. They made their home in Bellflower where Francis was employed at an airplane factory. Then, they moved to Roseburg, OR and Coquille, OR where he worked in saw mills. The family moved to Minot in 1963 and Francis was employed at Bee Line, Hummel's Bee Line, the 52 Club, Jerome\'s Collision Center and owned and operated Frank's Repair, a car repair business. He retired in 1977 due to an accident.
Francis was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and was an award winning pinochle player, chili cook-off participant and loved playing pool. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making deer sausage, wine-making and watching car races especially NODAK, NASCAR and World of Outlaws events. Danny Schatz drove Frank's sprint car early in his career. He loved spending time at family gatherings and his grandkids brought a twinkle to his eye.
Francis' loving family includes his wife of 57 years Ramona; daughters: Brenda Weber of Minot and Bernadean (Scott) Howell of Makoti; daughter-in-law: Cynthia Schaan of Salina KS; eight grandchildren: Kalen, Alyssa (Nick), Kasey, Trina Trisha, Lori, Tiffany and Bradley Jr.; seven great grandchildren; siblings: Dennis (Delores) Schaan of Minot, Rose Bellamy of Ray and Wendell Schaan of Ray; sisters-in-law: Linda Schaan of Gartnerville, NV, Ann Schaan of Minot and Janice Schaan of Seattle, WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, son: Bradley, granddaughter: Lindsey and brothers: Ralph, Walter, Joseph, Julius, Fred and Louie.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
