Frances M. Barnick, 96, Seattle, Washington, formerly of Max, died Monday, July 6, 2015 in a Seattle Nursing Home.
Frances was born October 10, 1918 near Max, North Dakota the daughter of John and Stacey (Kankovsky) Barnick. She was raised on the family farm near Max and graduated from Max High School in 1935. She graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo with a degree in Home Economics. Frances also attended Northwest Bible College in Minneapolis, MN.
During her younger years, Frances worked as a home extension agent in North Dakota until moving to Portand, Oregon. She then went to work in Seattle, Washington as a Home Appliance Sales Representative and had lived in the Seattle area for the past 50 years.
Frances always enjoyed her trips home on Amtrak from the West Coast to visit family and friends. She was a member of the Philadelphia Church in Seattle.
Frances is survived by her nephews: Roland Barnick Jr. of Colorado, Terry Barnick of Georgia, Vaughn Barnick of South Carolina, Edgar Semchenko of South Carolina and NorVal Semchenko of Max ND. Nieces: Kathy Dietz of Washburn ND and Joyce Semchenko of Colorado; sister in law: Geneve Barnick of South Carolina. A number of great nieces, great nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mabel Semchenko and Helen Barnick; brothers, Roland and Ted Barnick and infant brother Alfred; nieces, Carolyn Taylor and Nancey Sweckart, nephew, Jay Barnick and sister in law, Ethel Barnick.
Graveside service:
Friday, July 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Barnick Family Cemetery, Rural Max, ND.
Visitation:
Thursday, July 16th from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
