Florence LaVerne Whisker, 82, Minot, died Monday, October 20, 2008, in a Minot nursing home.

Florence was born March 7, 1926, in Harvey, ND, the daughter of Jesse and Hilda (Skaar) Fryer. She was raised and educated in Harvey, graduating from Harvey High School in 1944.

Florence was united in marriage to Marvin A. Whisker December 4, 1945, in Fessenden, ND. They made their home in Rugby and Kenmare until settling in Minot, ND in the late 1940's.

Florence was employed as a sales clerk for the next 40 years at Black Drug, White Drug, and B&B Drug until her retirement in 1982.

Florence was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: Husband: Marvin; Daughters: Diane (Charles) Van Grinsven - Four City, Iowa and Lorie (Asa) Keener, Minot, ND; 7 Grandchildren: Mike (Beth) Van Grinsven, David (Mary) Van Grinsven, Jeff (Angie) Van Grinsven, Cynthia Van Grinsven, Amanda Whisker, Ashley Whisker, and AsaBon Keener; 10 Great-Grandchildren: Brittany, Melissa, Emily, Alexis, Michael, William, Catherine, Madeline, Hanna, Charles, and Lillian and Shaun; Sister: June Lang, Minot, ND; Brothers: Duane (Mary)Fryer, Minot, ND and Roger Fryer, Minot, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Virginia Froeber, and brothers: Gordon and Dennis Fryer.

Funeral: Monday, October 27, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND
Visitation: Monday, one hour prior to the start of the funeral service at the funeral home.
