Florence May McDonald, 93, Estevan and formerly of Minot and North Portal died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 in an Estevan hospital.
Florence was born on March 13, 1918 in Goodwater, Saskatchewan to Carl and Annie Betland. She was raised and educated in Estevan. Florence married Donald McDonald on August 26, 1940 in Brandon, Manitoba. They made their home in Estevan and Portal for twelve years before moving to Minot in 1964 where Donald was the manager for Border Freight Lines for many years. They had resided at 516 9th Ave. S.E. for many years. Donald died on July 14, 1982. Florence had continued to reside in Minot until about ten years ago when she moved to Estevan.
Florence was a former member of St. Leo's Catholic Church - Minot as well as the Minot Curling Club, Minot Hockey Boosters and Moose Lodge. She especially enjoyed curling, golfing, watching hockey and playing bridge.
Florence's loving family includes her three sons: Thomas (Lynn) McDonald of North Portal, Ronald (Elaine) McDonald of Fargo and Don (Sara) McDonald of Cold Spring, MN; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters and five brothers.
Graveside Service: Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Booksigning: Wednesday the 26th from 9:00 a.m. until noon in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Minot Curling Club or Minot Hockey Boosters.
