Florence Traiser Grilley, 96, Minot and formerly of rural Drake died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 in a Minot nursing home.
Florence was born on July 11, 1910 in Bergen, North Dakota to Olaus and Emily (Camp) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Bergen and attended Bergen High School. Florence married Ira Traiser on June 16, 1928 in Towner ND. They made their home on a farm in Lake George Township of McHenry County near Drake, ND where they raised small grains and cattle. They sold the farm in 1970 and moved to Minot. Florence owned and operated Florence's Upholstery in Drake and Minot for several years during the 1970's. Ira died on November 10, 1978. Florence married Donavan Grilley on June 21, 1981 in Minot and they made their home in Minot. She moved to Trinity Homes in 1998. Donavan died on September 10, 2006.
Florence was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church - Minot and a former member of St. Margaret - Mary Catholic Church in Drake and the Blumenfeld Catholic Church. She was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at all three churches as well as the Tip Top Homemakers Club. She especially enjoyed traveling, crocheting, dancing and cooking as well as spending time with her family.
Survivors include : Children: Irving (Agnes) Traiser, Verla (Neil) Zimmerman, David (Susann) Traiser and Faye (Terry) McCarty all of Minot and Verna (George) Gilfus of Turtle Lake ND; eighteen grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister: Margie Dalen of Minot; sisters-in-law: Mildred Hastings of Jamestown and Francis Grilley of Minot; brother-in-law: Jone Lillemon; stepdaughter: Rosalie (Ernie) Malnaa of Minot; two step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Ira Traiser and Donavan Grilley; great granddaughter: Melanie Bauer; sons-in-law: Frank Bauer and Maynard "Buster" Oothoudt; sisters: Mae Arvidson, Ruth Michaelson, Alma Lillemon, Lillian Holte Wolfe, Alice Johnson, Gladys Haga and Evelyn Dalen and brothers: Eugene Johnson and Oscar Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial
: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John The Apostle Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service
: Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation
: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot
