Florence E. Anderson, 99, Minot, formerly of Glenburn, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in a Velva nursing home.

Florence Anderson was born March 31, 1908, in Tatman Township of Ward County, ND, to Andrew and Hilma (Erickson) Anderson. She was raised on a farm near Glenburn, ND and graduated from Glenburn High School in 1928.

Florence moved to Pasadena, CA in 1936, gaining employment at the Pasadena Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company. Following 30 years of employment in California, she returned to Glenburn in 1966 to care for her mother on the farm. After the death of her mother in 1978, Florence moved to Minot and resided at the Milton Young Towers until moving to the Souris Valley Care Center in 2000.

As a young woman, she enjoyed doing pastel chalk drawings and riding horses. She loved to garden, bake cookies, make candy and had a large collection of cookbooks. Florence loved animals, especially cats, and was dear to her calico cat named Cally.

Florence was active in the Tatman Township Homemakers Club for many years. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: Sister-in-Law: Elvira Anderson, Glenburn, ND and numerous nieces and nephews, including Dale (Mary) Carlson, Sawyer, ND, Linda (Jerry) Olson, Minot, Beth (Mike) Harris, Viroqua, WI, Richard (Helene) Anderson, Mohall, ND, Doyle (Carol) Anderson, Tucson, AZ, Marlin Palmer, Glenburn, Dan (Claudia) Anderson, Austin, TX, Lois (Don) Amos, Crofton, MD, Lori (Tom) Anderson-Edge, Burtonsville, MD; Bruce (Pam) Anderson, Glenburn, ND, Ron Anderson, Glenburn, ND, Barbara (Rick) VanWechel, Walkerton, IN, and Sally (Tom) Alef, Maple Park, IL.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Thelma Carlson, and brothers Willard, Lester, and Grant Anderson.

Funeral: Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND;
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND;
Visitation: Friday, January 25, 2008, 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.

Memorials: Memorials are preferred to Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, ND.
