Last Friday, July 13, 2007, Fern Miller of Minot ND, beloved sister, mother and grandmother, was called by her Lord and Savior to rest eternally in his arms. She was 90.

Fern was born on March 13, 1917 in Lowland Township of Mountrail County near Donnybrook, ND, to Elmer and Carrie (Nott) Ott. She was raised and educated on the family farm and attended Lowland Township schools.

Fern married Louis Miller on May 1, 1938 in Minot and they made their home on a farm south of Minot near the NDSU Agricultural Research Station. Besides being a farmer's wife, Fern worked outside her home at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and at the Carter, Casa and Pat's Motels. Fern and Louis raised 3 children, Wanda, Eldora and Dale. Louis died on February 18, 1992. Fern lived on the farm until 1997 when she moved to Minot and resided at the Dakota Terrace Apartments. She moved to Edgewood Vista in June of 2006 and to Manorcare health Services early in 2007.

Fern was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Afton Homemakers Group and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, gardening, crafts and her flowers. Fern volunteered when she could by helping with fundraising sales and assembling quilts for donation.

Surviving family includes: Children: Eldora Hagen of Cadott, WI and Dale (Nadine) Miller of Athol Idaho; son in law: A.W. Hauf of Lewiston, Idaho; sister: Maybelle "Babe" Lawson of Minot; grandchildren: Julane, Lisa, Clifford Jr., Jacob and Joshua and several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Wanda Hauf, grandson Mark Hauf, brother: Willis Ott and sister Dorothy Bredahl.

Funeral Service : Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
