Obituary

Evelyn Webster-Ballweber , 88, Minot and formerly of Deering died on Saturday, April 1, 2023 in a Minot assisted living center.  She was surrounded by five generations of her family.

Evelyn Elaine Webster was born on June 14, 1934 near Roseglen, ND to Leon and Bertha (Hanson) Webster.  She was raised on that farm and a farm near Deering and attended country school.

Evelyn was once married to Jack Burtch and they made their home on a farm southeast of Deering and were the parents of Carol and Tim. After they were divorced Evelyn was employed as a cook at various restaurants in Minot.  She moved to Apache Junction, AZ in the late 1970's and owned and operated Evelyn's Buffet.  She moved to Sweet Home, OR and she was employed at the Wylie Creek Retirement Community as a cook.  Evelyn married Thomas Ballweber on April 20, 1991 and they made their home in Sweet Home.  Mr. Ballweber died on May 27, 2005.  Shortly thereafter, Evelyn returned to Deering before moving to Edgewood Vista 2.75 years ago.

Evelyn's hobbies and special interests included cooking, gardening, jig-saw puzzles and she could play a "mean" game of whist.  Also, she loved spending time with her family, but it was her twelve great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren that lit up her life.

Evelyn is survived by her children:  Carol (Jerry) Hansen of Deering and Tim (LuAnn) Burtch of Sawyer; grandchildren:  Laura Zeretzke, Darren and Wayne Hansen, Blaine (Jodi) Burtch, Buffie (Neil) Brown and Beth (Roger) Kraft; siblings:  Nellie Burtch and Tom Webster (Marlene) all of Minot, Cleone (Jim) Okken of WA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Tom; siblings: Hans, Jake, Helen, Dot, Dorothy "Pinky", Betty, Marge, Ella, Jerry, Dave, Lyle and Calno.

A celebration of the life of Evelyn will be held on April 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Edgewood-West, Minot.
