Evelyn Delaine Doris (Souther) Preskey, 86, Minot, formerly of Glenburn, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 in her home in Edgewood Vista.

Evelyn was born November 14, 1932 on the family farm near Larson, North Dakota, the daughter of Raymond and Julia (Long) Souther. She was raised at Larson, Columbus, Sawyer and Glenburn prior to her graduating from Minot High School in 1952. She later attended Minot State College and studied in the Arts program.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Ronald Preskey on October 3, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenburn. They made their home on the Preskey family homestead, where along with raising their four children and farming throughout the years, she taught Art Classes at Minot State University. In addition, she had served as the Assistant Activities Director at the Mohall Nursing Care Center for several years. She and Rod moved into Minot in April 2011 and most recently into Edgewood Vista in 2014.

Evelyn was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, where she was active with the ladies' groups. Also, she was a charter member of the Jet Belle's Home Makers Club enjoying many wonderful activities with her fellow homemakers. In addition, she assisted with many of their children's activities, including 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA and the Glenburn School Carnival. She and Ronald had enjoyed spending many summers at Lake Metigoshe throughout the years. She enjoyed whist card parties, playing pinochle, was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, quilting and worked in the art of textiles and weaving. She mostly notably looked forward to attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

Her loving family includes : husband of 64 years, Ronald, Minot; children, Mitchell (Joanie) Preskey, Glenburn, ND, Kendall (Carol) Preskey, Bismarck, Rochelle Preskey, Waltham, MA, DeAnna (Wayne) Johnson, Bottineau, ND; grandchildren, Cory (Desaraye) Preskey, Nathan Preskey, Kayla (Joe) Lorsung, Karen (Josh) Glover, Jennifer (Scott) Bina, RaeAnn Preskey, Nicole (Kaleb) Klein, Tyler Johnson, Kirby (Marcella) Johnson, Wyatt Johnson; great grandchildren: Oakley Trueblood, Elsa & Brooks Preskey; Ava, Elise, Brielle & Jocelyn Lorsung; Indiana & Elliott Evelyn Glover; Lyndon Bina and Raelyn Johnson; siblings, Deraine Freelander, Fargo & LaVonne (Jim) Birney, Topeka, KS; several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Blake Johnson, siblings, Adeline Carroll, Sylvester McNab, Julian McNab, Violet Wilson, Rosemarie Kallias, Bonnie Kjelbertson and infant, sister, Carol and infant brother, Donald.

Memorials are preferred to Edgewood Vista, Caring Edge Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church.
