Evelyn Jesson, 83, Dayton, OH, formerly of Minot, died September 25, 2006, in a Dayton hospital.
Evelyn Pounds was born March 25, 1923, in Ross, ND, to Henry and Alice (Walker) Pounds. She was raised and educated in Ross, where she graduated from high school.
Evelyn was united in marriage to William "Bill" Jesson on May 11, 1940, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where she was employed as a cook for many years at the Riverside Sheraton Hotel, now known as Riverside Holiday Inn, until her retirement in the mid 1980's. Following her retirement, she remained active for many years in the community through volunteering at the Salvation Army, Greenthumb, and at the YMCA in the daycare. In 2003, she moved to Dayton, OH, to be nearer her family and would remain there until her death.
Evelyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with everyone at the senior center, which usually and most definitely included a cup of coffee. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.
She is survived by: Daughter: Sharon Martin, Dayton, OH; Son: Earl Jesson; and numerous grandchildren, including Steve (Barb) Paige, Dayton, OH; great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Ellen Paige, son, William "Sonny" Jesson, sisters, Emma George and Edna, and brothers, Robert, Clyde, Everett, and Earl Pounds.
A Graveside service will be held at a later date.
There will be no reviewal, however, family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.
