Evelyn Marie (Clark) Gunderson , 75, of Minot went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Evelyn was born in Rugby, ND on June 16, 1941, the first born daughter of Roy and Berdella (Satrang) Clark. She spent most of her childhood and all of her school years in Willow City, ND. She graduated from high school in 1959 and came to Minot that fall to attend Northwest Bible College. She met the love of her life, Howard Gunderson, at the Bible College and they were married on September 10, 1961. They made Minot their life-long home. Howard and Evelyn were blessed with three children a daughter, DeVawn, and twin sons, Todd and Troy.

Evelyn worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aid in Minot from April 1960 until her daughter was born in July 1962. She, then, returned to work for a short time at St. Joseph's in January 1963 until July 1963. For the next several years, she stayed at home caring for her children. In July 1972, she returned to the workforce and began a long career as a civilian employee for Minot Air Force Base. She was a labor and delivery room technician at John Moses and Minot Air Force Base Hospitals for over 25 years. Throughout her career, she held thousands of new lives in her hands. When she retired in May 2002, she was working at the clinic on the air base, checking in patients and assisting the nurse practitioner in the office.

Before and after retirement, Evelyn could be found caring for her family - cooking and baking, helping with child care for the grandchildren and great grandchildren, or supporting her children in any way possible. Reading, crocheting, embroidery, and card making were some of her favorite past times.

Evelyn was a member of West Minot Church of God and was involved in women's ministries and coordinating special music for Sunday worship services for several years. She was also part of a special group of ladies who called themselves the "Grandmother's Prayer Group". These ladies joined together on a weekly basis to pray for their grandchildren and families.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Howard Gunderson; children, DeVawn (Don) Beckman, Minot; Todd (Laura) Gunderson, Cleveland, TN; Troy (Sheri) Gunderson, Jamestown, ND; eight grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; her brother, Rick (Esther) Clark, Baltimore, MD; an aunt, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers, Gary and Dwight.

A Celebration of Evelyn's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at West Minot Church of God. Visitation for friends and family will be held Sunday, April 16, 2017, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at West Minot Church of God with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm in the church. Memorials are preferred to James Valley Youth For Christ of Jamestown, ND or to the Minot Youth For Christ.
