Obituary

Evelyn O. Brenno, 100, Minot, formerly of the Columbus area, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in a Minot Hospital.

Evelyn was born August 28, 1910 at rural Larson, ND, the daughter of Casberg and Olava (Sletvold) Larsen. She was raised on the family farm near Larson and attended country schools in that area. The family moved to Columbus following the death of her mother. She assisted in raising her younger siblings and graduated from Columbus High School in 1928.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Erwin Brenno on October 27, 1929 at Columbus, ND. They made their home on a farm NW of Columbus until 1975, when they purchased a home in Columbus and rented out their farmland. Erwin died January 15, 1990. Evelyn moved to Minot in 1991 to be nearer her family, and made her home at the Dakota Terrace Apartments in 1992. For the past three years, she had lived with her daughter, Gloria at her home in Minot.

Evelyn had been a former member of the Pleasant Prairie Lutheran & Trinity Lutheran Churches at Columbus. She currently had attended Christ Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Church ladies aid and homemakers group when she lived in Columbus.

Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, writing poems, attending theatrical plays, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her loving family includes : daughters, Gloria Beck, Minot, Carol (LuVern) Witty, Fargo; grandchildren, Paul (Marcy) Beck, Kathy (Gary) Seaton, Jeff (Jody) Witty, Brad (Michelle) Witty, Teresa Gilbraith; great-grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Jade, Jaci, Amber, Carly, Cara, Joshua and Jared; great-great grandson, Trevor; sisters, Doris Buzzell, Bowbells, ND and Lucille Fredrickson, Seattle, WA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Marion, Esther, Helen and Neoma and brother, Curtis.

Funeral service : Saturday November 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, rural Columbus, ND.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
