Evangeline 'Vangie' Burkle, 82, Minot formerly of Kief, died Thursday, August 6, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.
Evangeline Evelyn Burkle was born on May 13, 1933 in Kief, ND, to Edward and Ella (Grosz) Hoffer. She was raised and educated in the Kief area attending Highland Township School and then McClusky High School.
Evangeline continued to live in Kief and assist her family with the running of the farmstead in her youth. She moved into Minot in 1952 and began work as a waitress. Following a short time in Minneapolis, she returned to Minot and worked as a waitress until joining the dietary department at Trinity Hospital, retiring after 21 years of service in 1998.
Evangeline was once married to Ruben Burkle.
Evangeline was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary and Eagle's Auxiliary all of Minot. She enjoyed playing cards especially solitaire.
Evangeline's family includes children, Mike (Peggy) Hoffer, Minot, Cathy (Dennis) McBeain, Menasha, WI, Stacey (Laura) Burkle, Minot, Melodee Hacker, Minot and Kent (Venessa Landis) Burkle, Minot; thirteen grandchildren; Many great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (June) Hoffer, Minot and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cliff Hoffer.
At Vangie's request a private family service will be held.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred.
