Eva Cabán Vargas, 78, Des Lacs, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Eva Luz Cabán-Giovannetti was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 18, 1947, the daughter of Reynaldo Cabán and Lucia Giovannetti. She attended Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Convent School graduating in May 1966.
On May 22, 1964, at a school dance, Eva met her future husband Victor and began a love story that lasted 61 years. Eva and Victor were united in marriage on December 19, 1971.
Victor entered the military service with the U.S. Air Force on September 5, 1972, and the family moved to Tampa, Florida, where their oldest son, José, was born. Their next assignment was in Zaragoza, Spain, where their youngest son, James, was born. The family arrived at Minot in April 1979 and resided there until 1986 when they made their forever home in Des Lacs, ND.
Eva enjoyed visiting with friends and family, doting on her grandchildren, reading, listening to music, and chasing after her pet cat.
Eva is survived by her husband of 53 years Victor, sons José (Stephanie), Carnation, WA, James (Julie), Horace, ND and grandchildren Jack, Olivia and Gabriel along with many cousins in the United States and in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother Reynaldo Cabán-Giovanetti.

: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
Visitation:
Monday, May 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.5
Memorial
donations are preferred to the Humane Society of the United States, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
