Eunice Ann Mertz, 83, died at her Minot residence Friday, June 18, 2021 in the presence of her family.

Eunice was born the daughter of Delbert and Lois (Cowan) Cogdill on July 25, 1937, Des Lacs, ND. Eunice was united in marriage to Walter Mertz in 1957 and they made their home in Minot, ND.  To this union six children were born. Eunice and Walter enjoyed 61 years of marriage and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings.

Eunice worked many different varied jobs over the years and she made lifelong friends along the way.  Eunice had a love for family, friends and gardening.  But her greatest love was for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Marvin (Cindy) Mertz, Minot; Randall Mertz, Minot; Rodney (Tatsiana) Mertz, Hugo, MN; Michael (Janet Herman) Mertz, Karlsruhe; Sandra (Kenneth) Giardelli, Covington, LA; Della Patterson, Peoria, IL.  Grandchildren:  Mandy (Randall) Schmidt; Cole (Amber) Mertz; Tiffany (Benjamin) Smith; Anthony (Courtney Rovira) Giardelli; Emily Otto; Alex (Lauren Glasow) Osipovich; Great Grandchildren: Gabriel, Lucas and Bethany Mertz; Tate Burckhard; Camille Giardelli; Kiya Osipovich; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Her Private Family Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
