Ethel Irwin, 102, Surprise, AZ formerly of Minot, passed into eternal life on September 22, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Surprise, AZ.
Ethel was born on the family farm in McKenzie County, North Dakota on March 19, 1917. She was the sixth of seven children born to Charles and Vendela (Andersson) Green. Ethel attended elementary school in Alexander and Charbonneau, North Dakota. She graduated from Alexander High School in 1935. She attended Minot Business School in the 1950's.
Ethel was married to Roy Irwin on November 9, 1937 in Minot. They were the parents of two children, Arlis Rae and Bernadine Carol. She worked at Oppen's Grocery and Montgomery Ward Department Store.
While living in Minot, she played in a weekly bridge group. Following a move to Arizona, she used an Ipad to keep herself busy. She played skip-bo, bridge, yahtzee, words with friends and even did her Jesus Calling devotions on the Ipad. Ethel and Roy were members of Minot's First Assembly of God and Shiloh Christian Fellowship.
Roy passed away October 24, 2002. Ethel was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Beth Carol, son-in-law Dale Atwood, her parents Charles and Vendela, brothers Leonard and Everett, and sisters Leatha, Doris, Juanita and Helen.
Ethel is survived by her daughters Arlis Atwood, Minot and Bernadine (David) Milles, Surprise, AZ; grandchildren Shannon (Steve) Herman, Suzanne (Todd) Fiebig, Robert (Heather) Atwood and Steven (Maggie) Milles; She was called 'Gigi' by her great-grandchildren Nick and Kendall Herman, Abby and Lucas Fiebig and Adaley and Kali Milles; Ethel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Ethel's Life: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at First Assembly of God, Minot
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
