Obituary

Esther Regina Haider, 74, Burlington died on Friday, November 18, 2011 in her home.

Esther was born on August 3, 1937 on the family farm in Shealy Township of Ward County near Berthold to Olaf and Emma (Johnson) Trondson. She attended school in Berthold.

Following her education, she was employed at the Howdy Caf in Burlington, a family owned restaurant, where she met her future husband, Robert Haider. Robert and Esther were married on November 17, 1956 in Berthold. Following their marriage, they made their home in Burlington.

After rearing her four children, Esther was employed as a waitress at the Minot Country Club. She was also employed as a baker for Homesteaders Restaurant and Schatz Econostop Truckstop before retiring in 1992.

Esther was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Burlington and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. She had served as clerk of the Burlington Township Board from 1996 until 2011. Since her retirement, she enjoyed her housekeeping duties at Peace Lutheran Church and the Burlington Senior Center. She also enjoyed donating her time and talent to making kransekake for the Norsk Hostfest. Esther also enjoyed puzzles and quilting.

Esther's family was especially important to her and her generosity was grand. Her home always exuded warmth and kindness. She will be remembered as a happy, kind, generous woman whose strength came from her faith in God. She felt a deep commitment to her family and friends. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express an extra special thank you to Nick and Chee Barber for their friendship and extra special care of Esther.

Esther's loving family includes her husband of 55 years, Robert; daughter, Tammy Haider (David Glessing), sons, Timothy (Deanna) Haider, Terry (Jacki) Haider, and Todd (Sandy) Haider, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) Henderson, Alex Haider, Robbie Haider, Darrin Haider, Scott (Jordyn) Haider, Karlie (Daniel Miers) Haider, Lakeynn Haider, Spencer Regina, Tom (Robbie) Dorr; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Jaelyn Henderson, Jaxon Haider, Noah Miers, Alexis Haider, Micah, Trista, Noah, Tesarah and Tianna Dorr; sister, Ruth (Delwin) Deaver, Berthold, sisters-in-law, Shirley Haider, Minot and Rosie Trondson, Donnybrook and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Ragnar and Willie Trondson.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington.
Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Burlington.
Visitation: No reviewal, but friends may sign a memorial register on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church or its Luther League.
