Obituary

Erva Klein, 94, Bakersfield, CA and formerly of Minot, died on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Bakersfield.

Erva Klein was born March 6, 1916 at Grand Forks, ND to Walter and Violet Perry and passed away to heaven on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Her first years were spent near Parshall, ND where her father homesteaded. At an early age she moved with the family to Surrey, ND.

She attended elementary school and two years of high school in Surrey and graduated from Minot High School in Minot, ND in 1933. Erva attended Minot State College for two years and taught in elementary schools at South Prairie and Lonetree. She graduated from Asbury Hospital of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1942 and did general and private nursing. Erva served in the Air Force division of the Army Nurses Corp for two years during World War II. After the war she attended Ft. Wayne Bible College in Ft. Wayne, IN for two years where she also served as school nurse.

Erva appreciated music and enjoyed playing the piano both at home and at church and was involved in bible study.

She married George Klein in Minot in 1951. They moved to Minneapolis where George was employed at the Minneapolis Star and Tribune and Erva worked as a part time nurse. They moved back to Minot in 1977. Both George and Erva were members of the Calvary Alliance Church in Minot.

Erva is survived by daughters, Norma and husband, Dwayne Carter of Bakersfield, CA and Ruth and husband, Leo Chancellor of Lady Lake, FL; granddaughters, Jennifer Storm of Grimes, IA, Kristen and Kari Carter of Bakersfield, CA; one great granddaughter, Sophie Storm of Grimes, IA and nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Violet Perry, husband, George, sister, Bernice Perry, brother, Wilton Perry, sister-in-law, Delores Perry and niece, Kathee Heisz.

Funeral service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Calvary Alliance Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: One hour prior to the start of the funeral service at the church on Saturday.
Memorials: Preferred to Calvary Alliance Church, Minot.
