Emma B. Schnaible, 98, Minot, formerly of Burlington, died October 6, 2010 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Emma was born July 7, 1912 at Max, North Dakota the daughter of John and Christine (Finkbeiner) Wagner. She was raised and educated at Max. She was united in marriage to Martin Schnaible, Jr. on November 17, 1932 at Max. They moved to a farmstead south of Benedict and later farmed south of Douglas. They moved into Max in 1936, where they raised their six children. They later farmed four miles northwest of Max, in Economy Township of McLean County until retiring in 1971. In 1992, they moved to Burlington. Martin died April 5, 1999. Emma moved to Edgewood Vista in 2000 and later to Trinity Homes in 2007.
Emma served as Clerk of Schools for the Max Public School for a number of years, and became its cook, a job she held for more than 20 years. It was one of the first N.D. schools to successfully offer breakfast as well as lunch. She was a member of the Economy Homemaker's Club, TOPS Club, was instrumental in organizing the Max Senior Citizens Center, was a 4-H leader, was a self-taught organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Max, a choir member, Sunday School teacher, taught vacation bible school and was an active member of its Church Women. When the Lutheran Churches merged in Max, she became an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. After moving to Burlington, she and Martin became members of Peace Lutheran Church.
Emma loved music, whether she was playing her favorite piano pieces or singing duets with her brothers and sisters for church services or special events. She enjoyed gardening, growing and canning vegetables and fruits, along with baking breads, pies and making special meals for family and friends.
Her loving family includes : children, Audrey Pollard, Seattle, WA, Karen (Jim) Jensen, Minot, Edward (Linda) Schnaible, Minot and Tim (Darlene) Schnaible, Burlington, ND; daughter-in-law, Maudie Schnaible, Woodland, CA; son-in-law, Felix Brown, Aurora, CO; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Jungling, Bismarck, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Norman, daughter, Louella, sister, Mary, brothers, Jake, Rudolph, Deofil and Edward.
