Emil Fiesel , 86, Minot, formerly of Jamestown and Fargo, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, in a Harvey nursing home.

Emil was born March 19, 1924, in Martin, ND, to Martin and Hulda (Schieman) Fiesel. He was raised and educated in Martin area, where he attended school. Emil assisted on the family farm for the next fifteen years in addition to being a self-employed carpenter in the Martin and Harvey area.

Emil was united in marriage to Elona Heisz on June 22, 1947, in Martin, ND. They resided in Martin until moving to Champaign, IL in 1966, where Emil was employed as a carpenter and later superintendent/foreman for R.T. Construction for the next 11 years. Emil continued in the construction business as a self-employed carpenter in Illinois until returning to Jamestown, ND, in 1984 following his retirement. Elona and Emil moved to Fargo in 1991. Elona passed away in 1996.

Emil moved to Minot and became a resident of Edgewood Vista in 2002. He attended Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot and was a past member of the Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. In September 2010, he became a resident of St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. His life interests included hunting, fishing, writing poetry and photography.

He is survived by sisters, Elma (Alvin) Kleinsasser and Laverne Fiesel both of Martin, ND and Lois Rott, Anamoose, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elona, infant daughter, Maureen, sisters, Minnie Karges, Viola Fiesel, Ellen Fiesel, Martha Weinholz and Emma Fuhrman and brothers, Walter, Reinhold and Bennie Fiesel.

Funeral service : Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot, ND.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation : Tuesday, October 19, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials : Memorials are preferred to Gideons International or to Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
