Elwyn Mendell Quam, 72, Minot, formerly of Surrey, ND, died Thursday, March 4, 2021 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Elwyn was born August 26, 1948 at Minot, ND, the son of Sever and Alice (Luchsinger) Quam. He was raised and educated at Surrey. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army on June 28, 1968 and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1970 and returned to North Dakota. He was once married to Joyce Bruhn.

Throughout the years he was employed as a laborer throughout much of North Dakota. He enjoyed Country Western Music and watching Western movies.

Elwyn's loving family includes , children, Kerry (Kimberly) Quam, Minot, Kelly (Christy) Quam, Newtown and Angela (Dan) Kraft, Norwich; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Meridell Collee of Oregon and sister-in-law, Nancy Quam of Minot.

Elwyn was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merlyn Quam, sister, Sylvetta Strube, son, Elwyn Mendell "Pete" Quam, Jr. and a niece, Erin Quam.

Funeral service: Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment with military honors: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation : one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
