Elvin Dahl , 93, Minot, died Friday, November 10, 2017 in a Minot hospital.
Elvin was born March 11, 1924, to Bennie and Lura (Butts) Dahl in Scobey, MT. Following the completion of his education he purchased a farmstead near Scobey, MT.
Elvin enlisted into the US Navy on January 19, 1945. He served our country until his honorable discharge on April 7, 1946. He returned to Montana and continued his farming operation.
Elvin was united in marriage to Delores Anderson on January 11, 1948 in Scobey. They made their home various places in North Dakota until 1963, when they settled in Minot. Elvin was employed at Northland Chemical Company prior to serving as the Minot Farmer's Elevator manager from 1973 until 1984. He also served as an elevator manager in Goodrich, ND prior to his retirement in June of 1985. Elvin and Delores had spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ since 1990. Delores passed away January 28, 2017.
Elvin was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot. He also carried memberships to the Minot VFW, American Legion, Golden Kiwanis and was a past member of the Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing and loved to travel.
His loving family includes children, Janice (Joel) Wood, Hazen, ND, Ronald Dahl, Kearns, UT, Darla Swanson, Minot, and Laurie (Ken) Paisley, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jamey (Juliana) Wood, Jessie (Dawn) Wood, Lee (Sarah) Swanson, Amy Swanson, Colin Swanson, Casey Paisley, and Kristopher Paisley; step-grandson, Jack Davis; great- grandchildren, Dakota, Hunter, and Lincoln Wood; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Delores, son-in-law, Kent Swanson; daughter-in-law, Kellie Davis-Dahl sisters, Alene Cavanaugh and Helen Green and brothers, Howard and LeRoy Dahl.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND in the Spring of 2018.
Memorials: In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
