Elvera Emma Dean, 90, Minot, died Friday, October 7, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Elvera was born October 19, 1920 at Makoti, North Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Emilie (Beyer) Quandt. She was raised and educated at Makoti and attended country schools near there until graduating from Makoti High School in 1938.

Elvera attended Minot Business College for one year and then became employed in the Minot area. She was employed by Holmes Electric for ten years. She married Floyd Dean on May 5, 1956 at Makoti. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their three children. Floyd died December 21, 2008.

Elvera was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active with the Faith Circle group. She enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint, and tending to her garden, especially her flowers. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom all meant the world to her.

Her loving family includes : children, Dennis (Mari) Dean, Mandan, ND, Roger (Carol) Dean, Minot and Lynette (Kent) Wood, Minot; grandchildren, Christopher, Marshall, Preston, Jessica, Mandy, Nathan, Mike, Joey, Sarah, Emily & Christiana; great-grandchildren, Alex, Caleb, Ella, Ashley, Matthew, Jeremy, Lucas, Brandon, Braydon, Christian, Abigail & Elizabeth; brothers, Loren (Janice) Quandt, Minot, ND and LeRoy (Florence) Quandt, Ryder, ND; several nieces , nephews and cousins.

Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd, great-grandson, Jonathan and brothers, Reuben & Milton.

Funeral service : Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:30am. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
