Eloise L. (Vedquam) Burckhard, 75, Minot, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in her home.

Eloise was born on October 27, 1944 in Westhope, ND to Julius and Elsie (Elie) Vedquam of Landa, ND. She was raised on a farm 18 miles west of Bottineau, ND and attended rural Landa country school. She graduated from Bottineau High School in 1962.

After attending Minot Business College for a year, she started working at Westland Oil Company in Minot where she met her future husband Jerome 'Jerry' Burckhard. They were married on April 15, 1967 in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. She later worked at Montgomery Wards and then went to work at Medical Arts Clinic P.C. She worked there full time until 1976 when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and continued to work part-time until 2000.

Eloise and Jerry enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhomes. They spent 14 winters in Arizona and one winter in Texas.

Eloise is survived by her husband of 53 years Jerome 'Jerry' of Minot, brother Wayne Vedquam of Bismarck, sisters-in-law Patricia Vedquam of Minot, Irene (Ken) Follman of Towner, Connie (Mike) Monson of Minot, Marietta (Ronnie) Carpenter of Towner and Sharon Burckhard of Fargo along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Everett and Elroy Vedquam, brother-in-law Richard Burckhard, two sisters-in-law Kerry Vedquam and Mary Vedquam, nieces Terry Ham and Ann Vedquam and one nephew Aaron Vedquam.

A Private service will be held.

Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Public Visitation: Friday, July 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Mouse River Cemetery, c/o Carroll Opdahl, 10265 Highway 83 – Westhope, ND 58793 or Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
