Ellen May Tracy, 79, Minot, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in a Minot Hospital.
Ellen was born February 29, 1932 at Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Lloyd and Marion (Will) Goodwin. She was raised and educated at Grand Forks and received her degree as a registered nurse from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Grand Forks in 1953.
Ellen was united in marriage to S. Scott Tracy on September 11, 1954 at Grand Forks. They moved to Minot in September of 1955, where she began employment with Northwest Clinic for Doctors Rowe, Clark, Amstutz and Naegeli. In 1976, she went to work at Minot State University in the Student Health Center, working in this capacity until retiring in 1994. She later worked part-time for Dr. Henry Meijer.
Ellen was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot, where she was active with the Church's Women's groups. She also was active with several bridge groups and a study group. Ellen enjoyed playing scrabble, gardening, reading and doing needlepoint work. She always loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Her loving family includes , husband of 56 years, Scott Tracy, Minot; children, Stuart (Cheryl) Tracy, Bismarck, ND, Curt Tracy, Minot, Kathryn Stephens, Avon, MN, daughter-in-law, Misty Tracy, Alexandria, MN ; Grandchildren, Alexis (Israel) Perez, Allison and Katelyn Tracy; Reece, Scott and Paige Stephens; brothers, Don (Arlene) Goodwin, St. Paul, MN, Walt (JoAnn) Goodwin, Minneapolis, MN, Eugene (June) Goodwin, Kent, WA, Daniel (Shirley) Goodwin, Deerwood, MN and sister, Marilyn Koch, Phoenix, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Karen.
Celebration of Life service
: Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, later in the spring.
Visitation:
At her request, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign the memorial register book on Sunday from noon-5:00p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Minot State University Nursing program or First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
