Elizabeth J. 'Betty' Faul , 94, Minot formerly of Sawyer, died Thursday, February 13, 2025, in a Minot hospital.

Betty was born May 29, 1930, in Fargo, ND to Rose (Wimmer) Henke. She was raised and educated in the communities of Carrington and New Rockford as a child. She moved with her family to California and later Portland, Oregon where she graduated from Franklin High School in 1948.

Betty returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Reuben Faul on October 23, 1949, in Sawyer, ND.  They made their home on his family's farmstead until 1963 when they built a home in Sawyer, so their children could be closer to school. Betty was active in the PTO and PTA in Sawyer. They retired from farming in 1979.

Betty was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church and attended the Sawyer Nazarene Church in Sawyer for many years where she was actively involved in church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She enjoyed a good book, was a collector of angels among many other things, a talented seamstress and enjoyed time spent in the flower garden.

Reuben passed away on January 15, 2010. Betty moved to Somerset Court in Minot later that year, where she lived for many happy years and made lifelong friendships with residents and staff. She became a resident of the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison in October of 2023.

She will be remembered for writing letters, her joy in receiving mail and her love of flowers and birds (she wouldn't use a postage stamp that wasn't pretty) and missed most by those blessed to share in her life.

Betty is survived by her daughters Susan (Scott) Raybourn, Santa Ana, CA and Sandra Sys, Minot, ND; grandchildren Christian (Megan) Metz, Amy (Chris) Metz-Galloway, Deanne Metz, Kyle Sys and Amanda (Martin Power) Sys, Adam (Brandi) Raybourn and Jordan (Summer) Raybourn; great-grandchildren Riley, Keira, Henry and Charlotte Metz, Rambo and Xena Galloway, Bronson and Jacob Raybourn and Scarlett and Crimson Raybourn; sister Frances Priestley, Portland, OR along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother Rose and stepfather Adolph, husband Reuben, son-in-law Kevin Sys, grandson Thomas Metz and sister Ruth Yelverton.

A private family service will be held.
