Elisabeth "Sue" Crist , 69, Minot died on Saturday, January 30, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Sue was born November 13, 1940 in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of Dr. Friedrich and Dr. Elisabeth (Hawlicek) Doringer.

She moved to Washington, D.C. in October of 1957 and graduated from George Washington University in 1964 with a B.A. Degree in German with minors in French and Spanish.

Sue was united in marriage to Fred Crist on December 19, 1964. He was a junior at the Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. and she was a lab assistant in the foreign language department at George Washington University from 1964-65. She began her teaching career at Cynthia Warner High School in Tacoma Park Maryland, where she taught French from September, 1965 to May, 1967.

Sue and Fred moved to Garden Grove, CA in July 1967. Fred was stationed at the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station as a dental officer. Sue taught for the German-American School Association and at Oakmont Private School in Orange County, CA from 1967-69.

Their son, Michael Alan was born on July 21, 1969 in Washington, D.C. They moved to Buffalo, NY where her husband was accepted into a three year Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

On September 17, 1972, their daughter, Karen Elizabeth was born in Washington, D.C. They moved to Minot, ND in January, 1976. Sue taught German and Spanish at Bishop Ryan High School from 1978-2000.

Sue enjoyed traveling, reading and especially taking care of their Golden Retrievers. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Surviving family includes: Husband, Dr. Fred Crist, Minot; Son, Michael Crist, Fargo, ND; Daughter, Karen (Chad) Simonson, Minot; Grandchildren, Matthew Evan and Alexis Grace Simonson.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service: At Sue's request, no formal services will be held.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, family and friends are invited to sign the memorial register book on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter or to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN - 38105.
