Eleanor Genevieve Putney , 86, Minot, died on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in a Minot nursing home.

Eleanor was born June 23, 1922, in Plaza, ND, the daughter of John A. and Hazel (Aune) Blevins. She was raised and educated in Velva, ND.

Eleanor was united in marriage to George Lloyd Putney on June 22, 1940 in Minot. They resided in Minot, before returning to Sawyer in 1949. Eleanor spent her life homemaking and raising ten children. She made quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eleanor loved her church and her family, especially all the time spent with her grandkids. She enjoyed puzzles and games and was always ready to help someone in need. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: Children: Hazel Wolf, Robards, KY, Carol (Marty) Schalesky, Minot, ND, Lloyd (Cathy) Putney, Cave Junction, OR, Helen (Gerard) Oie, Minot, ND Patricia (Walter) Green, Minot, ND and Alice (Lawerance) Duchscherer, Bismarck, ND; 25 Grandchildren; 28 Great-Grandchildren and 13 Great- Great Grandchildren and many special friends, including, Norma Eide and Rose Hill.

Eleanor was preceded in death by Husband, George Putney, Sons, Gerald, Terry, Harold and Dean Putney, Great-Great Grandson, Adrian Duncan and Sons-in-law: Dale Wolf and Robert Palmer.

Funeral: Friday, September 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Church of the Nazarene, located at 2220 24th Ave SE - Minot, ND
Interment: Willis Township Cemetetery, Rural Minot, ND
Visitation: Thursday, September 11, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.
