Eleanor Joann "Nora" Finneseth, 79, Velva, died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in a Velva care center.
Eleanor was born on January 21, 1938 in Minot, ND to Frank and Anna (Lindblom) Jylen. She was reared on a farm south of Minot and educated at Freedom School #3, graduated from Minot High School in 1955 and graduated from the Sisters of St. Francis School of Nursing in 1958. Following her completion of nursing school, she was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital as a registered nurse.
Eleanor was united in marriage to Alvin "Al" Finneseth on September 18, 1959 in Minot. They made their home in Carrington; Boulder, CO; Los Alamos, NM; and Mesa, AZ. She was a registered nurse in those locations and her husband was a hospital administrator. They moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1970 where she was employed at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, supervising physicals for new employees on the Alaskan pipeline. They moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1985 and she was employed at the Anchorage Hospital as a registered nurse. She also worked for Equifax and Weight Watchers as a bill auditor. She and Al moved to Velva in 2004.
Nora was a member of the Norwich Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, and gardening, especially flowers.
Nora's loving family includes her husband of 58 years: Al; children: Brad Finneseth of Fairbanks, Alaska and Allen Finneseth of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren: April, Angela, Christina, Daniel, Tara and Carrie Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, son: Brian Finneseth, daughter-in-law: Katrina Finneseth; sisters: Frances Holodnick, Marvel Pietsch, and Mary Linder.
Celebration of the Life of Nora Finneseth: Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Norwich Lutheran Church with lunch to follow.
Memorials in lieu of plants and flowers are preferred to the Norwich Lutheran Church, Saron Lutheran Church or the Souris Valley Care Center.
