Eleanor S. Fargo, 92, 1125 5th Ave N.W. Minot, and formerly of Coteau and Bowbells, died Monday, August 13, 2007 in a Minot Hospital.
Eleanor was born June 13, 1915 on the family farm near Coteau, North Dakota, the daughter of Andrew and Benanna (Holmes) Anderson. She was raised on the farm near Coteau, and attended schools in that area, graduating from Coteau High School in 1933.
During her younger years, Eleanor was employed in Bowbells at the Courthouse for several years, and then at Bridgeman Creamery in Minot, prior to her marriage to Gilbert Fargo on June 29, 1943 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
They made their home in Minot, where she was employed at Minot High School, as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools, and then at Minot State University in the Music Department, as secretary to John Strohm. Eleanor had also served as the bookkeeper at Fargo Refrigeration Company in Minot for a number of years.
Eleanor was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir, served as a Sunday school teacher, and was active with the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter R, the Minot Art Club.
Her loving family includes: her husband of 64 years, Gil Fargo, Minot; Brother: Dave L. (Marian) Anderson, Minot; Nephews: Gary Swenson, Mike, Mark and Tom Anderson; nieces, Gail Hanky & Linda Pastor & Susan Anderson.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lillian Swenson and Mabel Nelson, and infant sister, Audrey and brother, Earl.
Funeral service
: Friday, August 17, 2007 at 11:00a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot
Interment
: Friday at 2:15 p.m. in Bowbells Community Cemetery.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00-7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Minot
