Eleanor Louise Chewakin, 95, Beulah and formerly of Minot died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in a Beulah nursing home.

Eleanor was born on April 19, 1920 in Duluth, MN to Andrew and Mable (Spragg) Jacobson. She was reared and educated in Becida, MN. As a young adult she was employed in Blackduck, MN.

Eleanor married Arthur Chewakin on March 14, 1937 in Bemidji, MN. They made their home in Blackduck until 1950 when they moved to Minot where she was employed as a banquet manager/hostess at the Clarence Parker Hotel for twenty-one years.

Art died on December 13, 1978. Eleanor continued to reside in Minot except for the summer months which she spent at the family lake home on Lake Sakakawea near Pick City. She had been a resident of the Knife River Care Center in Beulah for the past three years.

Eleanor was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot and the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed quilting, reading and playing pinochle.

Eleanor's loving family includes her children: Trudy (Lynwood) Valor of Sugar Grove, IL; Ronal (Myrna) Chewakin of Spearfish, SD; Sheralyn Tedeschi of Sarasota, FL; Michael (Mary) Chewakin of Fargo; Melonia (Bruce) Wahl of Pierre, SD and Marc Chewakin of Oswego, IL; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Michael Chewakin II and great-grandson, Blaze Unruh.

Funeral Service: Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot.

Interment will be in Rosehill memorial Park - Minot.

Visitation: Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.

Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the American Legion Auxiliary.
