Elaine Evelyn Soberg, 87, Minot, died Monday, January 23, 2012 in a Minot hospital.

Elaine was born August 26, 1924 at Redwood County, Minnesota, the daughter of Hubert and Emma (Langholz) Neumann. She was educated at the District 78 School near Redwood, before the family moved to New Ulm, MN during her younger years. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1942, and assisted with her father's casket manufacturing business as a secretary and designer for several years.

Elaine moved to Duluth, MN, where she was employed at the casket manufacturing business, called Duluth Burial Case for five years. She moved to Hopkins, MN that same year and since had lived and traveled with her son, Richard while he served his country in the military. They moved to Minot in 1986.

Elaine was a member of a local horticulture club. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and sewing.

Her loving family includes, children, Richard Soberg, Minot, Carol Melendez, Minot and David (Maria) Soberg, Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Andres,, Michael and April; brothers, Hubert (Ann) Neumann, Minnesota, Ron (Dee) Neumann, sisters, Dorothy Neumann, Oklahoma, Sylvia (Bob) Bowman, Brainerd, MN, Ruth (Bill) Smith, Minneapolis, MN, Esther (Bob) Peterson, Minnesota.

At the request of family, there will not be a public service or visitation.

A private family service was held on Tuesday, January 23, 2012 in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
