Elaine Arvilla Johnson , 94, Minot, formerly of Hartland, ND, died Friday, November 27, 2020 at her residence in a Minot Assisted Living Center.

Elaine was born April 12, 1926 on the family farm near Hartland North Dakota, the daughter of Theodore and Ida (Ronglien) Mehus. She was raised on the family farm and attended schools at Berthold and Hartland before graduating from Hartland High School in 1944. Following her schooling, she helped on the family farm and was employed with Mon-Dak Chemical for 3 years in their offices.

Elaine was united in marriage to Lyle K. Johnson on November 22, 1950 in Minot. They moved to Minot in 1951, where they raised their 3 children and Lyle worked for the Great Northern Railroad. Elaine had become a resident of the View Assisted Living Center, Minot in October 2009.

Elaine was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also a member of the VFW Post #753 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word searches, reading, puzzles, and most recently took up coloring. She always had a puzzle in progress on her puzzle table. Elaine had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and attending to her many houseplants. She was a loyal Minnesota Twins fan, she watched every game that she could. She knew more about the Twins and the game of baseball than one would expect. Elaine shared her beautiful smile and famous hugs with everyone who was lucky enough to cross her path. Those who met her, couldn't help but to love her. Her response to, "How are you doing" was her catch phrase, "oh, I'm putzin along". What brought Elaine the most joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
