Eileen Fay Pixler, 77, Mandan and formerly of Bismarck, Minot and Granville died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in a Bismarck hospital.

Eileen was born on August 24, 1939 in Rugby, ND the seventh child born to William and Martha (Keyes) Herman. She was reared on the family farm north of Granville until 1948 when the family moved into Granville. As a young adult she moved to Minot where she was employed at Trinity Hospital in the central supply department.

Eileen married Gayle Kenneth Pixler on November 29, 1957 in Olympia. They made their home in Olympia, WA where Eileen was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. In 1971, the family moved to southern California for a short time before moving to Colorado where Eileen and Gayle owned and operated the Pixie Ice Cream Company (an ice cream truck business). They lived there until all their children had graduated from high school.

Gayle and Eileen returned to North Dakota in 1984 and made their home in Granville. Gayle died on March 18th, 1986. Eileen moved to Minot in 1986 to be with her daughters. She moved to Bismarck in 2010 to be near her daughter Susan who was receiving cancer treatment. Eileen suffered a stroke in April of 2015 and had been residing at Marion Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin and most recently in Mandan at Miller Point Nursing Care Facility.

Eileen's greatest joys in life were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and crocheting.

Eileen's loving family includes: son, Dalton (Jennifer) Pixler, Las Vegas; daughter, Pamela Pixler, Bismarck; step daughter: Debra Pixler of Arizona; sister, Ruth Herman Drader of California; grandchildren: Shane Pixler, Misty (Matt) Smaardyk, Crystal Pixler (Mike Kadrmas), Kenneth (Angela) Pixler, Jessica Pixler, Wilma Pixler, Michael Pixler, Matthew Pixler, Mona Ryerson, John Bruder and Jamie Fairbanks; great grandchildren: Preston, Jaden, Hali, Nicholas, Kyler, William, Sierra, Rayne and a new great grandchild on the way and her beloved Roxy.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Susan Pixler and siblings: Kathleen Smith, Elaine Freeman, Gary Herman, Charles Herman and Merle Herman.

Celebration of the Life of Eileen Pixler: Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church - Minot.
Interment will be in the spring at Union Cemetery - Towner.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service in the church.
