Eileen Brummond, 83, Granville, died Friday, March 3, 2017 in her home.

Eileen was born January 3, 1934 in Minot, ND the daughter of George and Edith (Carroll) Forbes. She grew up and attended school in the Logan/Sawyer area. She was a graduate of Sawyer High School in 1952. Following high school, she moved to Minot and worked in the restaurant industry for a couple of years.

Eileen was once joined in marriage to Leslie Brummond. This union was blessed with five children. They lived in Missouri until returning to Upham and later settled on a farm north of Granville in the early 1960's. They moved into the city of Granville in the early 1980's.

Eileen always worked hard to provide for her family. She took a job at the school working as a custodian, and later as moderator of the ITV courses and also in the kitchen. During her 23 years at the school, she was known to many as 'grandma.' Eileen enjoyed her work at the school and did so into her 80's, even as her health declined.

Eileen loved the front porch view of the community from her home and was often found outside enjoying the sunshine. She was a member of Hope Congregational Church and the Birthday Club, both of Granville. She never considered herself a senior citizen because of her age and was known to many for the 'ribbings' she provided to her family and friends. Eileen loved playing games with family and friends, gardening, and crafting angels from beads but found a good book worth her time. Second to no one were her grandchildren who she loved with her entire heart. She was very proud to have sewn the wedding dresses for all 3 of her daughters. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Her surviving family includes her children and their families, daughter, Darnell (Doug) Woodall, Granville, ND, Daniel (Stacie) Woodall, Dalton and Noah Beeter. Chris (June), Ashley, Alyssa and Fiona Woodall, Evie (Nathan) Johnson; daughter, Debra (Rod) Swallers, Granville, ND, John Swallers (Natasha Davies), Kyle (Lacey) and Logan Swallers, Lexi (Joshua) and Annabelle Grimsley; daughter, Barbara (Ron Barthel) Brummond, Minot, ND, Amanda (Thomas) Fowler, Auston & Blaine Flemming, Zach (Andria), Hannah & Hailee Bitterman; son, Chip (Sheila) Brummond, Plentywood, MT, Alex Brummond (Mike Rizzo), Carmen & Bailey (Connor Domonoske) Brummond; son, Phillip (Kristi) Brummond, Granville, ND, Karly Brummond (Brady Nelson), Ashlyn (Cole), Emma & Anna Clemenson, Kailyn & Jaidyn Brummond; sisters, Ellen Headstrand, Minot, ND and Leone (Arlyn) Brummond, Laramie, WY; brothers, Bob (Evie) Forbes, Medford, OR and Rolland Forbes, Ada, OK along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William and Dale Forbes.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND

Interment: Granville Cemetery later in the Spring 2017

Visitation: Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
