Obituary

Edyth O. Kittelson, 94, Minot, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in a Minot nursing home.

Edyth was born July 6, 1915, in Lockwood Township of Renville County, near Lansford, ND to Fred and Edith (Williams) Schultz. She moved with her family to a farm located south of Burlington, ND in 1923. They moved into Burlington in 1927, where Edyth graduated from high school in 1935.

Following graduation, she was employed in Burlington as a waitress at Vance Remington Café for a number of years. Edyth was united in marriage to Alfred Kittelson on August 1, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, where he was stationed with the US Army. They returned and made their home in Burlington.

They were employed at the C.A. Bugge Store owned by Einar Madson, which they purchased in 1947, later leasing out the store in 1950. Later that year, Kittelson Hardware Store began serving the community of Burlington. They operated the business until their retirement in 1970. Alfred passed away on June 29, 1986.

She attended chapel services at Trinity Homes, Minot and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Minot and the Burlington Presbyterian Church. Edyth enjoyed knitting. She was valued as the unofficial historian of Burlington in addition to serving as the clerk of Burlington Township for many years. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: Nephews, Paul Schultz of Madison, WI, Burl Schultz of Sierra Vista, AZ and Fred Schultz Jr. of Florence, AZ; Sister-in-Law, Merna Schultz, Minot, ND; Brother-in-law: Warren Logan, Los Angeles, CA; and special friends, Doris Johansen and Janet Hieb, both of Burlington; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Edyth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred, an infant son, sisters, Alice Schultz and Avis Logan, and brother, Fred Schultz.

Funeral service: Friday, May 7, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, Minot, ND
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation:
Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
