Obituary

Edward Bjork, 88, lifelong Minot resident died on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in a Minot hospital.

Ed was born January 18, 1928 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Edward and Amanda (Knutson) Bjork. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1946. He enlisted with the US Navy on May 31, 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1948.

Ed returned to Minot and furthered his schooling at UND and Minot Business College, where he earned his degree in business. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Peterson on August 20, 1950 at Devils Lake. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed with Fargo Glass for 3 years, Voeller's Furniture from 1958-1967, Fisher Motors from 1967-1970 and with Clayton Johnson and Minot Realty from 1970-1978. He had received his real estate license in 1971 and continued to work in the real estate business for 20 years, until retiring in 1990.

Ed was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Minot Exchange Club, serving as past president. He was a former member of the Minot Jaycees, Elks, Eagles, Minot Country Club and Minot American Legion Post #26. He served on the Minot Board of Realtors, and served as past president for the ND/SD Homes for Living Club.

His loving family includes, wife of 65 years, Jackie; children, Kevin (Carol) Bjork, Bismarck, Vicki Brantl, Burlington, CO, David (Jennifer) Bjork, Bismarck; 6 grandchildren to include: Jami, Lacee, Callie, Lauren, Michael and Taylor; 5 great grandchildren: Makaiden, Zavery, Laila, Graham and Livia; several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, David Brantl; brother, Del; half brothers, Kenneth and Earl and a half-sister, Evelyn.

A memorial gathering & celebration of Ed's life will be held later in the Summer.
Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
