Edna Eleanor Johnson , 85, Minot, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 in a Minot Hospital.
Edna was born February 28, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota the daughter of Edwin and Margaret (Mickelson) Chelgren. She was raised on the family farm near Sawyer and educated at country schools in that area. She assisted with the operation of the family farmstead, especially after her mother's illness.
Edna was once married to Art Lozensky, Jr., whom she married in 1948. She made her home in Minot, where she was employed in the Hospitality industry. Edna married Melvin L. Johnson on February 28, 1964. They made their home in Minot where they lived for several years, before he was transferred to Billings, Montana with his job with KG Men's Store. After retiring in 1996, they moved to Naples, Florida. Melvin died November 15, 1999. Edna returned to North Dakota in June of 2012. She entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Care Center, Mohall that same year.
Edna was of the Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, shopping, dancing and tending to her garden, especially her flowers.
Her loving family includes , daughter, Linda (Edward) Dorski, Naples, FL, son, James A. (Debi) Lozensky, Antler, ND, grandchildren, Michael, Christie, Tania, Shane and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Avery, Mandy, Andrew, Ryan, Geno & Antonio; sister, Florence Soltis, Minot; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, daughter, Debra and brother, Al Chelgren.
Funeral service
: Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 pm. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, North Dakota Chapter.
