Edna Mae Arneson, 83, Minot, formerly of Mohall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 in a Minot Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Donald E. Arneson, who passed away on December 14, 2007.

Edna Mae was born May 9, 1928 at Grano, North Dakota, the daughter of Gilbert & Edna (Mattern) Larson. She was raised and educated at Lorraine. Edna Mae was united in marriage to Donald Arneson on March 20, 1948 in the Lutheran Parsonage in Mohall, ND.

They made their home on a farm located 22 miles northeast of Mohall, where they raised their six children. Throughout the years, Donald and Edna ran their own farming operation, raising pigs, chickens and maintaining a large garden. They moved into Mohall in the early 1990's and then to Minot in 1996. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at the Mohall and Sherwood Caf's for several years.

Edna will lovingly be remembered for her passion and devotion to her gardens of vegetables and flowers. Her large yard boasted several varietes of flowers. She was well known in Renville County for her entries at the County Fair, of which she had won numerous awards throughout the years. Edna enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved baking a variety of goods, which countless others enjoyed. She was an avid collector of recipes, sending many to her daughters and granddaughters. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.

Her loving family includes , Children, Rodney Arneson, Aurora, CO, Wesley (Ramona) Arneson, Minot, Doug Arneson, Mandan, Donald Arneson, Jr., Fargo, Karen (Preston) Greenlee, Minot, Kathy (John) Haines, Tewksbury, MA; Fourteen Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren; Brother, Walter (Mary) Larson, Minot, Sister, Gertrude Strandberg, Mohall; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Edna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, brother, Richard and sisters, Eunice, Ellen, Mabel and Lilly.

Funeral service : Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, ND

Interment: Mohall Community Cemetery

Visitation : Thursday, June 23rd from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
